My paintings speak to the underlying fears of our current cultural climate. We are witnessing the world slide closer and closer to global crisis – devastating environmental changes, an economy in which the disparity between rich and poor is ever-widening, threats of nuclear holocaust, the rise of fascistic leaders, among many others. These paintings reflect my despair and yet also represent my hopes for the future. I believe that art is a most powerful tool for change. Through my work I hope to amplify a call for empathy in our collective humanity, and respect for our planet.
