Barbara Tepper Levy
Studio #
Barbara Tepper Levy is originally from the New York City area, and now lives in Saugerties. Her background is in fashion and costume design, which brings a vibrant color and line dynamic to her work. Her work was described as “pieces that have curves that evoke a sense of graceful movement,” in the Northern Dutchess News. Most recently she’s been using that aesthetic to make hand built multi-textural sculptural ceramics and handmade silver jewelry, set with semi-precious gems. Her art is composed of these, plus collages, black and white line drawings, acrylic painting and wearable fiber art. She was chosen to appear at Fall for Art in Kingston, NY in 2014 and 2015, where she showed her sculptural ceramics. She taught collage at the Lifelong Learning Center at Bard College, and her work has been shown at the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, the ArtBar in Kingston, NY, the Lev Shalem Gallery, Woodstock, NY, the Artists Society of Kingston, NY, the Woodstock School of Art, the Limner Gallery in Hudson, NY, and Emerge Gallery in Saugerties, and was featured on Artsy.net. She has been on the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour since 2013.
