Kristy Bishop, winner of the Gold Medal of Honor for Pastels in national competition and many regional art awards, is the owner of the Kristy Bishop Studio, 147 Market Street, Saugerties, NY. Founder of Kristy’s Kreative Kids, Bishop has taught over one thousand children privately until retiring from that aspect of her work. She taught adults at the Ulster County Community College (1984 – 1987) and at her former studio at 195 Main Street and outdoor art classes over the years.

Fashion designer, the Late Jessica McClintock (1930-2021), is a distant cousin along with Don and Ruth Clark who attended art school in Boston, Ma. in the early 1920’s. We all were born in Aroostook County in Northern Maine. Bishop came to Saugerties, NY in 1973 to attend the Art Students League in Woodstock.

Bishop’s memoir excerpts have been published in Fort Fairfield’s Sesquicentennial Celebration – It’s Time to Tell Our Stories 1858- 2008 Hardbound – Frontier Heritage (Maine) Editors: Rayle Reed Ainsworth & Sarah Ulman, 2009. From 1996 – 2012, Bishop wrote the regular column “Kristy’s Kreative Kids” which profiled young and older artists for local newspapers, including Ulster Publishing Company’s  Saugerties Times and Lee Publishing Company’s  Saugerties Post Star.

ACTIVE ARTIST member of the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum since 1977, along with many other local art associations, Bishop exhibits her artwork regularly throughout the Hudson Valley. She is a past president of the Kingston-Rhinebeck Toastmasters Club and is currently the president of the Ulster County Art Association based in Saugerties, NY.
