Saugerties, NY, April 15, 2017, On April 5, the 5th Annual Ulster County Executive’s Arts Awards were announced. The winner of this year’s award in the category of Volunteer in support of the arts has been awarded to Barbara Bravo, Coordinator/Director of the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
Upon hearing the announcement Ms. Bravo was surprised and delighted. She said that she was not expecting it but thrilled to have her efforts recognized. “I have had the privilege to meet and work with artists from the Saugerties community. I’m so proud of what we have accomplished. The Saugerties Artists Tour is one of the best in the Hudson Valley.”
Ms. Bravo, a ceramic artist, and small business owner joined the open studios tour at its inception in 2002 and saw a need for organization and marketing, skills that she developed in her own pottery business that she operated from 1985-2012. “I’ve been involved in the arts my entire life. Piecing together an event like the artists’ tour is a creative process, too. You need to see the big picture and find ways to bring it all together.”
The Awards ceremony will be held at the Saugerties Performing Arts Factory (SPAF) on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, 6 p.m., in Saugerties, NY. Ulster County Executive, Mike Hein, will be on hand to meet and thank all the recipients for their service to the arts community.
